CAFO Meetings to be Held Statewide in February 2015
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 12/30/2014

Seven individual meetings are being planned across the state this winter to update farm owners and others about Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations in Wisconsin. The annual CAFO meetings are scheduled in February for CAFO owners, managers, consultants, nutrient management plan writers and key staff. The forums are presented by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and University of Wisconsin-Extension.

The workshops will also focus on improvements made to nutrient management plan implementation, improving communication between plan writers, permit holders and DNR, and updates on regulations that affect CAFOs.

Some of the specific topics being discussed include public notice requirements for new land, permit-required reporting, updates on new Implements of Husbandry regulations, and engineering review requirements. There will also be a panel discussion on the challenges of weather-related delays in fall and spring applications.
