Wisconsin Corn Grower Wins National Yield Contest
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 12/22/2009

Wisconsin Corn Grower Jeff Mezera of Bagley once again finds his name atop the leader board of the National Corn Grower Association National Corn Yield Contest.

This year he is the winner of the AA No-till/Strip Till, non-irrigated corn category. Mezera won the same honor in 2007; and in 2005 recorded the contest's top yield of 323.06 bushels per acre.

While there is no overall contest winner, yields from first, second and third place farmers overall production categories ranged from 287.0744 to 346.0156 bushels per acre. This year, the event has accepted nearly 7,000 entries.

The national and state contest winners will be honored at the 2010 Commodity Classic. They will also be featured in a special edition of Farm Journal magazine.
