Legislation Making Bestiality Acts a Felony Heads to Gov. Evers
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 02/17/2020

A long-debated bill that would make sexual contact with an animal a felony in the state of Wisconsin has finally been approved by both chambers of the legislature.

The measure would allow the state to charge anyone who commit acts of bestiality with a Class H felony. The same would apply if anyone forces a child to engage with sexual contact with an animal.

The bill was introduced in 2019 by Sen. Andre Jacque of De Pere. He has been trying over the past couple of years to create harsher penalties for people caught mistreating animals in a sexual manner after an eastern Wisconsin man was charged multiple times with sexually assaulting a horse.

Gov. Tony Evers will now consider the proposal before signing it into law.
