Zimmermanns Set to Compete for National OYF Title
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 02/13/2018
Marathon County dairy producers Sam and Jennifer Zimmermann of Ringle are heading to California this week to compete for the 2018 National Outstanding Young Farmer award. The Zimmermanns, who earned the state-wide title last January, were recently named national finalists for the honor.
The couple milks 165 Registered Holsteins and have been purchasing the farm's assets slowly from Sam's parents. In addition to running ON-Q Holsteins, they have four children and are members of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau, County DHIA, 4-H, Little
Britches fair program, and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Wisconsin has had 18 national winners in its six-decade history of the program.
The award is based on 50-percent progress in their ag career, 25-percent from soil and water conservation and 25-percent for contributions to their community.
