February Wolf Harvest Season Now Open
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 02/23/2021

Wisconsin's first wolf hunting season since 2014 is now underway. The Department of Natural Resources says over 27,150 harvest applications have been requested through the agency's website, but only 2,380 harvest authorizations are available for purchase.

Last week, the state's natural resources board voted to set the harvest quota at 200 wolves outside reservation lands.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service removed gray wolves from the federal endangered species list in early January, thus returning management authority to the lower 48 states and tribes.

Meanwhile, the DNR will continue to plan an additional wolf season in November.
