The home of former Wisconsin State Sen. Kathleen Vinehout, a dairy farmer from Alma who ran brief campaigns for governor three times since 2012, lost her home over the weekend to fire.
According to the Buffalo County Sheriff's Department, the residence was completely destroyed during the early morning hours on Saturday.
A social media post said the family was safe, but the entire property was lost in the blaze.
Vinehout was elected to the Senate in 2006. She served many years on the Senate Ag Committee and was a member of several agriculture groups, including the Wisconsin Farmers Union, Wisconsin Farm Bureau, and Buffalo Co. Agricultural Fair Association.
