Yahara Pride Farms to Host Watershed-Wide Conference
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 02/18/2019

Yahara Pride Farms will hold its annual Watershed-Wide conference on March 7 at the Comfort Inn and Suites in DeForest. Leaders of the farmer-led conservation group say the event will showcase speakers on a variety of topics in modern sustainable agriculture.

A presentation by Yahara Pride Farms field consultant Patrick Murphy will update farmers on the current composting program and will include a panel of expert farmers who have participated in the composting initiative.

Information will be distributed to farmers on how to enroll in the 2019 cost-share program and what will be offered. Producers will also be able to sign up to use the new manure tanker, tractor, and low disturbance manure injection tool bar purchased in partnership with Dane County, Yahara WINs and Clean Lakes Alliance.

A keynote by Chris Lenzendorf, president at AQUA Innovations, will kick off the conference. His presentation will focus on nutrient concentrated technology and the future of sustainable farming. Attendee will also hear from Dane County Executive Joe Parisi, who will provide an update on ongoing county initiatives designed to move conservation forward while protecting the area's rich agricultural heritage.

More than 100 farmers, agribusiness professionals and community members are expected to attend the free educational event.
