Jones, Breneman Honored by State Cattle Producers
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 02/16/2018

Dr. BJ Jones of Wildcat Cattle Company of Darlington and Matt Breneman from Pardeeville have been honored as Cattlemen of the Year by the Wisconsin Cattlemen's Association. During the group's annual conference in Wisconsin Dells last week, the two producers were recognized for their contributions to the industry.

Jones and his family have been actively involved in the Wisconsin Hereford Association, where he is a co-advisor for the breed's junior association. BJ currently works as a large animal veterinarian at the Center Hill Veterinary Clinic, while his wife, Kim, is an independent marketing consultant.

Breneman is described as an innovator that puts his ideas into action. He has spent his career trying to make every diversified venture in the beef industry profitable. Matt farms 1,600 acres and his cattle operation is diversified, as his cows serve as an embryo transfer cooperator herd for elite Angus genetics.

Meanwhile, the WCA awarded its annual scholarship to Annah Dobson of Johnson Creek to attend 2018 National Cattlemen's Beef Association Conference. She is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls studying Ag Marketing Communications with a minor in Ag Business. Dobson is also serving as president of the Wisconsin Junior Hereford Association.

And before the event wrapped up,. Eric Johnson of Lodi took the reins as WCA board president. Matt Ludlow, Viroqua, is the new president-elect, while Mackenzie Cash, Beloit, was elected secretary and Austin Arndt, Janesville, was chosen as treasurer. Amy Radunz, Ellsworth, was re-elected as a director at large, with Brad Spain of Sparta, who is new to the board.
