Watershed Conference Slated in March in DeForest
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 02/16/2018
Yahara Pride Farms will host its annual Watershed-Wide Conference on March 7 at the Comfort Inn and Suites in DeForest. Experts from within the Yahara Watershed, across the state and outside the state will share information on modern sustainable
agriculture that can be applied to farms locally and beyond.
The free conference will include an update on current programs including cost-share results, soil test P evaluation and certification. Future initiatives such as the manure composting partnership and paid for performance project will also be discussed.
A keynote by Gary Sipiorski, dairy development manager for Vita Plus, will kick off the conference. He will discuss the high-performing farmers in the Yahara Watershed to rise to the next level of achievement.
Dane County Executive Joe Parisi will also be on hand to update attendees on ongoing county initiatives designed to move conservation forward while protecting the area's rich agricultural heritage.
The event will include lunch and several program updates from Yahara Pride Farms leadership and the Yahara WINs adaptive management program.
Farmers in the Yahara Watershed are especially encouraged to attend but the event is open to all. For more information or to register, go to: www.yaharapridefarms.org.
