Bill Aims to Protect Ag Tourism from Death Lawsuits
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 02/18/2014

Farmers and other agribusinesses in Wisconsin could soon be protected if visitors die on their operation as a result of inherent activity.

State lawmakers in the Assembly will be considering a bill on Tuesday which would grant immunity if a tourist where to be killed on the farm or business and if the host has proper sings posted giving notice about the potential risk.

Supporters say that agricultural tourism is getting to be a popular trend in the state--especially as more people are further removed from the farm. But if owners are liable for mishaps because of the visitor's own doing, it could discourage them from opening up their doors to the public.

The bill states that protections would not be granted if the owner does not post the proper signage.
