Proposed Legislation Would Increase Penalties for Animal Sex
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 02/19/2018

The State Assembly passed a bill on Thursday that would create harsher penalties for people caught having sexual contact with an animal.

As part of the measure, the crime would be considered a felony instead of a misdemeanor. Offenders could also face up to six years of jail time, if convicted.

Rep. Andre Jacque sponsored the bill after an eastern Wisconsin man was charged multiple times with assaulting a horse in a sexual manner.

The policy will now be taken up by the State Senate.
