Value of Wisconsin Crops Down From 2012

The production value of Wisconsin's field and miscellaneous crops was $3.78 billion in 2013. According to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, this is an 18 percent decrease from 2012.

The corn value of production for the Badger State totaled $1.87 billion, down 30 percent from the previous year, even though corn production was up 12 percent. Wisconsin's corn price averaged $4.20 per bushel, a decrease of $2.49 from the last marketing year.

State soybean values were down 27-percent from 2012 at $724 million. Average prices dropped $1.70 from the previous year to $12.30 per bushel.

And alfalfa hay went up in value during the past year, along with other hay, forage and potatoes. Oats and winter wheat had a decrease in value of production from last year.
