Landmark Services, Countryside Co-op Merger Finalized
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 03/02/2021

The latest merger between two Wisconsin agricultural cooperatives is now complete. Effective March 1, the Cottage Grove-based Landmark Services Cooperative and Countryside Cooperative of Durand has been legally unified.

The newly formed cooperative is in the process of rebranding, working on a new trademark name, logo development and more with an external marketing agency. A name and branding announcement will come later in 2021.

"As we focused on the benefits the merger would bring, we quickly realized that growing together would only make us stronger," said Board Chairman Jim Lange. "The board is excited for what the weeks, months and years to come will look like for the new co-op."

Meanwhile, the co-op's board will consist of 10 directors, composed of six directors from the Landmark region and four directors from the Countryside region, but will eventually reduce its total number of board seats in the coming years.

Landmark serves more than 11,000 members in southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois and eastern Iowa and employs more than 275 full-time people. Countryside has 15,000 members in west-central Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota and has 500 workers on its payroll.
