Wisconsin Ag Connection - 02/23/2017

Money for the proposed Wisconsin Agricultural Education Center in Manitowoc County continues to come in from supporters of the state's agricultural industry. The developers of the state-of-the-art facility have received a $50,000 gift from Denmark State Bank in Denmark.

"Given our region's strong agricultural heritage, it was a natural choice to make an investment in the Wisconsin Agricultural Education Center," said DSB CEO Scot Thompson. "Their mission will promote our economic prosperity and the crucial role our community plays in feeding the world."

The WAEC will serve as an educational resource for people who want to learn about the origins of their food. It will also include a discovery center that features hands-on learning opportunities and technology used to feed people around the world.

Construction on the project is expected to go through this year year, with a tentative grand opening being planned for the spring of 2018.

Organizers say fundraising efforts for the WAEC project are over 86-percent of its $13 million goal.
