Wisconsin Crop Values Were Three Percent Lower in 2014

The production of Wisconsin's field and miscellaneous crops were valued at $3.74 billion in 2014. According to the USDA's latest Crop Values summary released this week, this was a three percent decrease from 2013.
The value of corn production totaled $1.80 billion, down seven percent from the previous year, even though production was up 10 percent. Wisconsin's corn price averaged $3.70 per bushel, a decrease of 68-cents from the last marketing year.
However, the value of soybean production was up three percent at $795 million. Average prices dropped $2.70 from the previous year to $10.10 per bushel.
And the value of production increased in 2014 from 2013 for oats, alfalfa hay, forage, and potatoes. Winter wheat and other hay had a decrease in value of production from last year.
