Digi-Star Earns Innovation Award for Moisture Tracking Device

The Fort Atkinson-based Digi-Star has been presented with an award from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers for its Moisture Tracker technology. The Moisture Tracker has been deemed one of the year's most innovative designs in engineering products or systems for the food and
agriculture industries. Product Development Manager Chris Horton accepted the award during the ASABE Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference last month.
"The Moisture Tracker is the type of product that allows producers to make small daily adjustments that have a large long term impact on livestock productivity," Horton said.
Companies from around the world submit entries to the annual AE50 competition and up to 50 of the best products are chosen by a panel of international engineering experts. The judges select products that will best advance engineering for the food and agriculture industries.
The Moisture Tracker is a hand-held, near-infrared scanning device that rapidly measures the dry matter and moisture content of animal feeds. It is also featured in the January/February 2014 special AE50 issue of ASABE's magazine Resource: Engineering & Technology for a Sustainable World.
