Wisconsin Ag Outlook Forum Slated for January 25
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 01/09/2012

Agricultural economists and commodity specialists from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and UW-Extension will talk about the financial health of Wisconsin agriculture and the outlook for the year to come at the fifth-annual Wisconsin Agricultural Economic Outlook forum in Madison later this month. The event will be held January 25, which coincides with the release of the 2012 edition of the 'Status of Wisconsin Agriculture' report by the UW-Madison Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics.

The forum will begin with an overview of how state farmers fared during the past year, along with a look at how national and worldwide economic events will affect agricultural producers and related companies in the year to come.

The discussion will then turn to the supply and demand situation for key Wisconsin commodities, including milk, corn and soybeans, livestock, and fruits and vegetables, as well as for the products and services that farmers purchase.

The program takes place from 1:00-4:15 p.m. at the Pyle Center. It is free and open to the public. It will also be webcast live and archived for future viewing at http://www.cals.wisc.edu/agoutlook.

Sponsors of the Wisconsin Ag Outlook Forum include the UW-Madison College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and UW-Extension Cooperative Extension in partnership with the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation, Wisconsin Farmers Union and the UW-Madison Office of University Relations.
