Kappelman Named Land O'Lakes Sr. VP of Gov't Relations

A longtime Manitowoc dairy producer has been hired by Land O'Lakes to serve as its senior vice president of member and government relations. Pete Kappelman begins his new duties immediately, where he will be responsible for leveraging the company's resources to help members of the cooperative grow, while strengthening its partnerships on technology, talent, branding and financial services.

"Pete brings a rich, varied and valuable background to Land O'Lakes," said Land O'Lakes CEO Beth Ford. "There is no one better suited to help us advocate for and serve our member-owners."

Kappelman is one of the owners of Meadow Brook Dairy Farms, LLC. He formerly served as chairman of the Land O'Lakes board of directors for many years and also sat on the Wisconsin Alumni Association board, the USDA's Dairy Promotion and Research board, and the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin board. He also served as an ag policy advisor for the USDA and the office of the U.S. trade representative, where he was named Director of the Year in 2018 by the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives.

Pete received a bachelor's of science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. And he has earned many awards during his career, including honorary recognition from the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at UW-Madison, Wisconsin Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer and Wisconsin Dairy Farm Family of the Year.
