Anderson & Geiger Appointed to National Beef Board
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 03/12/2010
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced 36 appointments to the Cattlemen's Beef Promotion and Research Board, including two from Wisconsin. Martin Andersen, New Glarus; and Randy
Geiger, Reedsville will serve a three-year terms beginning immediately. They join fellow Wisconsin producer Lloyd DeRuyter of Cedar Grove on the 106 member panel.
The board represents 35 states, four units and importers. USDA selects appointees from cattle producers and importers nominated by organizations representing beef, dairy, veal and importer interests.
The group oversees collection of $1-per-head on all cattle sold in the United States, and $1-per-head equivalent on imported cattle, beef and beef products. In addition, the board contracts with established
national, non-profit, industry-governed organizations to implement programs of promotion, research, consumer information, industry information, foreign marketing and producer communications.
