Beef Producers Gearing Up For Bull Test Sale

State beef producers are getting ready for the Wisconsin Beef Improvement Association's State Bull Test Station annual sale. The auction, which will be held April 3 at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneer Prairie Farm, is being organized as a way for farmers to compare their animals with others raised by various seedstock producers.

The top gaining Red Angus Bull at this year's test, a Brown Good One N7465 son, gained 5.00 #/day for the 100 day test. His weight/day of age was 4.30#. The second high gaining Red Angus sire is a WR Mr Red Dawg 5335 son. The Red Dawg son gained 4.25 #/day, with an ADG of 3.90#. Johnson Family Cattle Co. of Clintonville is the consignor.

Meanwhile, Keith and Jessica Bork from Grand Marsh are the consignors of the top gaining Angus bull. The HA Image Maker 0415 son gained 5.70 #/day and had a 4.02 weight/day of age. The second high gaining Angus bull was consigned by Borkdale Angus of Grand Marsh. Lloyd's TC Total 410 son gained 5.35#/day with a WDA of 4.27#.

Walton Simmentals of DeForest consigned the top gaining Simmental bull. The Hooks Majestic 31M son gained 5.45#/day and had 3.81# WDA. Bruce and Jeanne Pope, Timber Springs Farm, Richland Center, consigned the second top gaining Simmental bull, a GWS Ebony's Trademark 6N son. His figures were 5.35#/day ADG with a WDA of 3.75#/day.

The top gaining South Devon bull was consigned by Jane Homan of Hill Point. The Torr Down Hermes 3 son had a 4.55# ADG and a 3.71 WDA.

And Ann Elwing of De Soto consigned the only Polled Hereford bull in the test. This Felton Legends 242 son gained 3.50 #/day and had a 2.83# WDA.
