MWFPA Scholarships Available for 2010-11
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 03/15/2010
The Midwest Food Processors Association is offering up to six $1,500 scholarships to undergraduate students who are majoring in agriculture or food science at the University of Wisconsin campuses of
Madison, Platteville and River Falls.
"The MWFPA recognizes the vital role played by agriculture and the food processing industry in Wisconsin's economy," said MWFPA president Nick George. "These scholarships help students to continue
their education and support the growth of these two major Wisconsin industries."
The six scholarships are offered under two programs created by the MWFPA in honor of leaders in the food processing industry. The Kenneth G. Weckel Scholarship is named for a University of Wisconsin
food science professor who contributed greatly to the advancement of vegetable and fruit processing through his research and teaching. The other scholarship is named for Carleton A. Friday whose family
founded the Friday Canning Company of New Richmond.
Applications are available through May and can be obtained in the campus guidance office, agriculture department office, or from the MWFPA by calling 608-255-9946.
