Wisconsin FFA Convention to Return In-Person During July
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 03/29/2021

Plans are in the works for an in-person Wisconsin FFA Convention after the Independence Day holiday this summer. State FFA Director Cheryl Zimmerman says the FFA board, which consists of state officers and their advisors, are in the process of organizing the event, which will return to the Alliant Energy Center in Madison during the week of July 5.

"The specific dates and schedule of the convention activities are yet to be determined," Zimmerman said. "We have a lot of planning to do as we know the convention will look different because of potential limitations caused by the pandemic. However, we are glad to be able bring people together again and celebrate the accomplishments of our FFA members and chapters."

The convention will also offer virtual options for those who are unable to attend in person. In addition, Zimmerman says there will be some online announcements released on social media just prior to the event for several award areas and competitions.

"My teammates and I continue to make enormous strides in providing Wisconsin FFA members with a top-of-the-line State FFA Convention experience and are grateful to have the opportunity to provide members with an in-person celebration in a safe manner while also offering a virtual format," said State FFA President Joe Schlies. "Coming together with the prioritization of health and safety guidelines, our organization continues to demonstrate this year's Wisconsin State FFA theme of being 'Unstoppable.."

Earlier this month, the Wisconsin FFA held its first in-person leadership conference in over a year at Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells.

Last year's Wisconsin FFA Convention was held entirely virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
