Proposals Sought for Redevelopment of Alliant Energy Center
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 03/30/2021

After years of planning and discussion, Dane County is finally ready to start accepting bids from developers to redevelop Madison's Alliant Energy Center.

Specifically, the county is seeking to expand the facility's 26-year-old Exhibition Hall in order to attract large trade shows. The site currently serves as the home for shows like Word Dairy Expo, Midwest Horse Fair, Wisconsin FFA Convention, and the Dane County Fair.

"As we emerge from the challenges of the past year, this project offers opportunity for economic invigoration while bringing new events to Dane County," said County Executive Joe Parisi.

In early 2019, Governor Tony Evers announced a $30 million investment to help fund the project. He said the money will come from a non-state grant program that provides state bonding support for non-profit or local government projects that have a statewide public purpose.

Earlier estimates have put the cost of the project at nearly $80 million.
