State Holstein Herds Earn 'Progressive Breeders' Status

Holstein Association USA has announced the recipients of the 2018 Progressive Breeders' Registry awards. The program recognizes the top-performing herds in the nation for excelling in type, milk production and genetic merit.

There were 218 herds that received the Progressive Breeders' Registry award this year. It is given to farms that have had a Breed Age Average in the top 25 percent of herds classified in the 18 months prior to March 1 of the award year.

Wisconsin had 35 herds on this list. Among them are the following first-time recipients: Barry Richardson, Douglas Brander, Haag Dairy LLC, Harold K. Christensen, Jr., James D. Busch, John D. & Joan M. Judd, Mark Carviou, Nolan S. Garman, Robert & Therese Guenther, Roger & Cheryl Arn, Shannon Dwyer, Sonnenburg Farms and Weis Way Dairy.

Established in 1937, The program is the longest-running award in the Holstein Association's history.
