Nominations Sought for State's Organic Council
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 03/24/2017

The Wisconsin Organic Advisory Council is now taking nominations from those interested in serving on the group's board. According to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, four seats are now open for an organic farmer, representative from an organic business or non-profit and an 'at-large' seat.

The group works to advise government agencies and organizations on critical organic issues and supports organic production, processing and purchasing opportunities. Wisconsin ranks second in the nation for the number of organic farms.

"Wisconsin's organic industry is strong and full of opportunities for producers, processors and consumers," said DATCP Organic Specialist Angie Sullivan. "The council provides important guidance and is a great way for individuals to support the industry."

Members serve three-year terms and attend quarterly meetings. Selected Council members will begin their service at the July meeting.

People can choose to self-nominate or nominate someone else. Applications are due by May 1.
