More Elk Arrive at Flambeau River State Forest
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 03/24/2017
Another 28 Kentucky elk have arrived at their new home in Wisconsin. The latest herd arrived this week in the Flambeau River State Forest in Sawyer County.
The animals will be enclosed in a seven-acre holding pen to satisfy quarantine and animal health testing requirements and to allow the elk to become familiar with their new surroundings.
State natural resources officials say the area surrounding the holding pen is
closed to the public during this period and people are asked to avoid the general vicinity of the closed area.
Last year, two separate groups of elk were released in the Jackson County forests.
