Two distinguished members of the Wisconsin Junior Holstein Association have been honored last weekend in Sheboygan. Zach Tolzman of Iowa County and Allison Breunig from Dane County were named Outstanding Holstein Boy and Girl at the group's annual state convention. Tolzman and Breunig were among the 10 selected Distinguished Members honored this past fall by the association, and will compete at the National Holstein Convention this summer in Appleton. Fourteen Young Distinguished Junior Member winners and 12 Twelve & Under Recognition finalists were also honored at the conference.

For the second straight year, the Manitowoc/Calumet County Junior Dairybowl Team won the Junior Division of their competition, with Shawano County taking top honors for the Senior Division. Both teams will compete at the national level this summer.

Members were also recognized for speaking, scrapbook, photography, advertising and dairy production awards during the weekend. And over $18,000 in scholarships were presented to students attending, or planning to attend, college or technical school.

Four new Junior Activity Committee members have been elected to the eight person state board. They are Nathan Daniels, Iowa County; Hannah Nelson, Pierce County; Matthew Gunst, Dodge County; and McKenna Coffeen, Brown County. They join the board's second-year members Emma Buss, Lafayette County; Hannah Ullom, Chippewa County; Joshua Gerbitz, Rock County; and Mason Jauquet, Shawano County. Retiring JAC members were Jessica Steger, Crawford County; Sam Minch, Wood County; Carley Krull, Jefferson County; and Caleb Hamm, Waupaca County.

Meanwhile, this year's WHY Friend awards were presented to Erica Ullom of Chippewa County and Brenda Long from Waupaca County.

And the new Wisconsin Holstein Princess is Lauren Siemers of Manitowoc County, with her personal attendant being Mikayla Endres from Richland County. The two will spend their year traveling to Holstein Shows, Junior events and other activities promoting the Wisconsin Holstein Association.

The convention was hosted by the Sheboygan County Junior Holstein Association.
