Organic Valley Exceeds $1 Billion in Sales in 2016
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 03/29/2017
The La Farge-based Organic Valley Co-op announced it has grown to over 2,000 farmer-owners during the past year and has posted a record $1.1 billion in sales. During the group's annual meeting last week, company CEO George Siemon said Organic
Valley farmers and staff were able to collaborate for the good of all from farm to table.
"Now, more than ever, it's time to cooperate," Siemon said. "Our strength has always been in our unity and belief in the collective good. In a world of divisiveness, cooperation continues to be the key to success."
Organic Valley, which is now the nation's largest organic cooperative, saw a 15 percent growth in membership in 2016 and a 5.8 percent hike in total sales. The company also added over 250 family farms to its roster, representing more than 40,000 additional
acres of certified organic agricultural land.
Meanwhile, the company recently broke ground on a new cheese cutting and labeling facility in Cashton.
