WALSAA Honors Top Farm & Industry Short Course Students
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 03/30/2018

The Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has announced the Farm and Industry Short Course award recipients for the 2017-18 school year.

Program coordinators say an Outstanding FISC Student scholarship award of $1,000 went to Laura Bolstad, Gilman; while Pietro Cerri, Italy; and Kevin Richardson, Roscoe, Ill., earned $500 for their academic achievements. And winners of $250 scholarships were Olivia Brandenburg, Fort Atkinson; and Amanda Gehrke, Arpin.

Bolstad, Richardson, Libby Manthe, DeForest; and Logan Weisensel, DeForest, were this year's recipients of the Activities and Leadership Award, which is presented to students actively involved in campus organizations and leadership opportunities.

And Academic Excellence recognition was given to the top five GPAs in the FISC program. Those winners included Cerri, Michelle Godez, Dodgeville; Ethan Hass, Manawa; Amy Jensen, Evansville; Thomas Maloney, Whitewater; Jansen McClelland, Viroqua; and William Zeimet, Cottage Grove.

The awards were presented during the FISC graduation celebration earlier this month.

FISC is the longest standing program in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at UW-Madison. With a focus on production agriculture, courses are taught during winter months when it is more convenient for students to take time away from farms.
