Dairy Cattle Die in Shawano Area Barn Fire
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 01/10/2013
Three dairy cattle were unable to be saved in a barn fire early Wednesday near Shawano.
According to Gresham Fire Chief Sam Boucher, the blaze happened on a farm in the town of Herman on Highway G before 6:00 a.m.
Gresham firefighters were assisted by crews from Shawano, Pella, Stockbridge-Munsee and Bowler.
Authorities say the barn's owner was able to free about 73 other animals from the barn before having to evacuate the building.
The structure, which was over 100 years old, is a complete loss. The cause of the blaze is still being determined.
