Riley Named 2014 Wisconsin Fairest of the Fairs
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 01/09/2014

Wisconsin's 48th Fairest of the Fairs is Kaitlyn Riley from Crawford County. The Gays Mills native was crowned Wednesday night in Wisconsin Dells after competing against 39 other contestants for this year's title. As Fairest of the Fair, she becomes the spokesperson for the Wisconsin Association of Fairs, where she will travel to many of the state's county, district and state fairs this summer. The winner also serves as the official hostess of the Wisconsin State Fair each year.

Riley is a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she is majoring in strategic communications and broadcast journalism. She is involved with the Association of Women in Agriculture, and has acted as a chairperson for the annual Badger Invitational Sale. She grew up on a Registered Jersey farm and showed animals at her county's fair since she was old enough to participate in 4-H.

Kaitlyn replaces outgoing Fairest of the Fairs Steffani Koch from Mayville in Dodge County.

Meanwhile, Ariel Hellenbrand of the Lodi Agricultural Fair was named first runner up, with Jenna Crayton of Racine County being second runner-up. Kenosha County's Alizabeth Elfering was third and Jennifer Kuffel, Sheboygan County, was fourth runner up.

Bill Bruins, Terri Wilfert and Christianne Williams served as judges for the competition.
