Outagamie Forage Council to Hold Annual Meeting
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 03/31/2015

The Outagamie Forage Council's annual spring meeting will be held next week in Appleton. The event takes place at the Center Town Hall on April 9, starting with a noon lunch.

Organizers say the meeting is open to the public and everyone is invited to attend. The educational program will begin at 12:20 p.m. with Shawano Extension Agent Jamie Patton, who will discuss the difficult situation many farmers will face this planting season when dealing with compaction that was created last year.

Kevin Jarek with the Outagamie Extension will share the latest information concerning alfalfa stand establishment and discuss a new UW-Extension Team Forage statewide study that will take place in 2015 to help answer this question.

And area professional crop consultants with Knutzen Crop Consulting and Tilth Agronomy will help evaluate how those plants are responding when they break dormancy.

Area farm equipment dealers have also been invited to share the latest developments for 2015.
