Gold Medal Cheese Auction Supports Charitable Giving
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 03/31/2016
The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association is holding its annual Championship Cheese Auction at the International Cheese Technology Expo in Milwaukee next month.
Organizers say the winning cheeses from the recent World Championship Cheese Contest will be sold April 13, with the proceeds going to support WCMA's strategic giving program. The donations will go toward dairy industry education programs and
organizations and student scholarships.
"The auction is a real 'win-win,'" said WCMA Director John Umhoefer. "A successful bid gets you one of the best cheeses in the world, and the knowledge that you're supporting the modernization of our industry and the education of future generations of dairy
researchers, cheesemakers, and business leaders."
In recent years, WCMA has directed funds toward the construction of the new Dairy Plant and Center for Dairy Research at the University of Wisconsin's Babcock Hall, renovation of the UW-River Falls Dairy Pilot Plants, and supported the cheesemaking
facility at South Dakota State University.
