Confirmation for DATCP Secretary-Designee Romanski Looming
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 04/29/2021

The Wisconsin State Senate may soon be holding its confirmation hearing for Wisconsin Agriculture Secretary-designee Randy Romanski.

WAXX Radio reports that Senate Ag Committee Chair Joan Ballweg has stated that Romanski is talking privately with members of her panel and that she's 'hearing good things' about his job performance.

Randy Romanski was appointed as Gov. Tony Evers' DATCP secretary-designee in November 2019 after his original department pick Brad Pfaff was rejected by the Senate.

Romanski previously served as former Gov. Jim Doyle's deputy chief of staff and also held staff positions in both the Senate and the Assembly, working directly on agricultural, rural affairs and natural resources issues. He then served as DATCP deputy secretary from 2007 through 2010 until the untimely death of then-Secretary Rod Nilsestuen in July of that year. Randy then took on full responsibility of the agency for the final four months of Doyle's term.
