Starkenburg Named 2017 Wisconsin Fairest of the Fairs
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 01/12/2017

Wisconsin's 51st Fairest of the Fairs is Rebecca Starkenburg from the Lodi Agricultural Fair in Columbia County. The DeForest native was crowned Wednesday night in Wisconsin Dells after competing against 39 other contestants for this year's title. As Fairest of the Fairs, she becomes the spokesperson for the Wisconsin Association of Fairs, where she will travel to many of the state's county, district and state fairs this summer. The reigning 'Fairest' also serves as the official hostess of the Wisconsin State Fair each year.

Rebecca is a junior at South Dakota State University, where she is studying Agriculture Communications and minoring in Animal Science and Meat Science. After graduation she plans to work in Public Relations for the meat industry. She is the daughter of David and Robin Starkenburg.

Starkenburg replaces outgoing Fairest of the Fairs Gloria Kesler of Menasha in Calumet County.

Also last night, Jackie McGlin of Calumet County was named Miss Congeniality at the Wisconsin Association of Fairs' annual convention at the Chula Vista Resort.

Meanwhile, Kallie Jo Kastensen of Racine County was named first runner up, with Talia Spiegelberg from Waukesha County being named first runner up. Juneau County's Charitee Seebecker was third and and Kristi Sawall, Waupaca County, was fourth runner up.

This year's judges were Gail Zastrow, Stacy H. Wigfield and Susan Crane.
