Mishicot Plant Science Class Earns National Honors
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 04/19/2019

A Wisconsin high school agriculture class was among eight school programs nationally to be recognized for representing the best of Career and Technical Education. Mishicot High School's plant science program was developed in partnership with more than 30 local businesses and three state technical colleges. It evolved from a single class into a full program of study, offering students the ability to earn college credits and industry certifications.

Mishicot's agriculture education department is taught by Jamie Propson and Justin Gerlach. They work with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, Fox Valley Technical College and Lakeshore Technical College to coordinate the curriculum for the course.

Students also engage in work-based learning, assuring an understanding of industry trends and connections for future employment.

The program was honored in front of state and national leaders with Excellence in Action awards at the 2019 Advance CTE spring meeting in Maryland.
