Kewaunee Co. Students Earn FTD Scholarships
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 04/19/2019

The group that ran the 2017 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days held that year in Kewaunee County has announced its next round of college scholarship distributions.

Executive Committee leaders say the scholarships are being awarded to students beyond the first half of post-secondary education, such as applications in their third and fourth year of college or the second year of a two-year program. Those awarded were to have graduated from high schools in Algoma, Denmark, Kewaunee, Luxemburg-Casco, Mishicot, and Southern Door.

To be eligible, someone from the student's immediate family must have been involved in the Farm Tech show as a sponsor, volunteer or vendor. They also needed to have at least a 2.5 GPA and be currently enrolled in post-secondary education school or technical study.

Winners include Carmen Haack, Algoma, attending UW-Madison; Maddy Selner, Denmark, attending UW-Madison; Michelle Kielpikowski, Kewaunee, attending UW-Eau Claire; Taylor Paye, Luxemburg-Casco, attending UW-River Falls; Melissa Hanson, Mishicot, attending UW-Green Bay; and Kordell Draves, Southern Door, attending St. Norbert College.

A total of $6,000 was awarded in 2019, and a total of $60,000 will be distributed over a 10-year period.

The committee announced last year that it plans to distribute about $250,000 into the community through scholarships, grants and a legacy community project.
