Knigge Elected President of AWA Corporation Board

A 1996 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison has been elected president of the school's Association of Women in Agriculture Corporation Board. During the group's annual meeting last week, Krista Knigge was chosen to lead the organization for the coming year. Knigge holds degrees in agricultural economics and agricultural journalism with an international emphasis. She worked for John Deere for 10 years performing varbmn ious marketing, dealer development and project management roles. In 2007, she moved to Wisconsin to work for Case IH and now works as a senior account executive for Charleston|Orwig, where she provides marketing and communications council for the global Pfizer Poultry Health business. She and her husband, Corey Geiger live in the Mukwonago area on five acres with a large garden and pasture for steers.

Other officers include Katy Katzman, vice president; Emily Uhlenhake, secretary; Kylene (Cook) Anderson, treasurer; Amber Hahn, house management committee chair; JoDee (Ehrke) Sattler, education committee chair; Jill Makovec, financial management committee chair; Nicole Breunig, alumni director/communications committee chair; Tracie Luedtke, advancement committee chair; Sarah Galdi, planning committee chair; Casey Hushon, director-at-large; Christina Jorgensen, director-at-large; and Susan Lampert Smith, faculty advisor.

Also at the meeting, 10 scholarships, totaling $6,000, were given to student members for the 2010-2011 academic year. Those winners include Connie Eibergen, Granton; Sonia Gelsinger, Pennsylvania; Abbie Jo Holig, Mauston; Sarah Sacker, Monroe; Danielle Brown, Dodgeville; Mackenzie Fochs, Mosinee; and Melissa Doyle, Mineral Point.

Others recognized during the program were Vita Plus, which was named the 2010 Honored Guest; Sharon Brantmeier, Cottage Grove, Friend of AWA; Naomi Uhlenhake, Madison, Outstanding Alumni Award Winner; Rosalie Geiger, Reedsville, Outstanding Woman in Agriculture Winner; Marjorie Stieve, Madison, Founder's Award; and Christa Behnke, Clintonville, Outstanding Senior.
