UW-River Falls to Hold Colts-in-Training Sale
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 04/21/2014

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls' 38th annual Colt Sale has been scheduled for May 3 at the school's Campus Farm. Organizers say more than 43 high quality colts that will excel in any discipline will be sold to the highest bidder during the sale.

The event opens at 11 a.m. with a sale preview in which all of the horses will be ridden for potential buyers. Lunch will follow at about noon. During lunch, student trainers will be available to answer questions about the horses. The auction will begin at 2 p.m.

Each two-year-old horse featured in the sale has been trained by UW-River Falls students enrolled in the Principles of Training Horses class. This is a three-credit course, taught by Nathan O'Connor, where students learn and refine their training techniques. Along with the two-year-olds, a number of aged horses will be sold. Most of these aged horses are lesson horses from the UWRF riding program.
