Reminder: WMMB Ballots Due on April 26
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 04/23/2014

Dairy producers in certain districts have until Saturday to fill out their ballots for the 2014 Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board director elections. This year, 11 producers are running for nine board member positions in a mail-in ballot election. Seven districts have a candidate running unopposed, while two of the nine districts have actual run-off elections.

This year's nominees include:

District 1 - Incumbent Ben Peterson of Grantsburg is running unopposed.

District 4 - Audrey Kusilek from Rice Lake is running uncontested for a seat being vacated by Lyle Jensen from Amery

District 7 - Incumbent Dave Bangart, Greenwood, is being challenged by Richard Price, Stanley. Bangart is wrapping up his first three-year term.

District 10 - John Pagel of Kewaunee is running for re-election in his district and will be unopposed.

District 13 - Incumbent Lanette Harsdorf from Beldenville is running unopposed.

District 16 - David Schmitz, Fond du Lac, is running unopposed for his second term on the board.

District 19 - Becky Levzow, Rio, is running unchallenged for a seat where incumbent Sarah Lloyd is stepping down.

District 22 - Incumbent Mary Wackershauser of Lancaster will face challenger Ann Kieler from Platteville.

District 25 - Incumbent Stacy Eberle from Monroe is running unopposed.

Election coordinators say all eligible voters must return their ballots to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture by April 26.

Each year one-third of the board's 25 seats are selected. As directors, the board members supervise WMMB's business affairs, formulate and set WMMB policies, and serve on one of three WMMB committees: cheese business, local markets business, and producer and board relations.
