Pokorny Named U.S. Presidential Scholar
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 05/20/2022

For the third time in six years, a graduating senior from Waupun High School has been honored as one of the state's top recipients of the U.S. Presidential Scholar in Career and Technical Education award. Cameron Pokorny is following in his brother's and sister's footsteps by earning the award by the Commission on Presidential Scholars.

Pokorny has been an active member of his FFA chapter during high school. He owns a flock of laying hens that produce hundreds of eggs each year. The business is called Cam's Coop, where he donates some of his products to area food pantries.

Cameron will also compete as a finalist for the Star in Agribusiness competition at the Wisconsin FFA Convention next month in Madison.

Each year, the Presidential Commission recognizes the nation's top 161 academic Presidential Scholars, which includes one male and one female from each state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and from families of U.S. citizens living abroad.

Pokorny's siblings, Dylon and Katrina, have also won the award in the past.
