Corn Prices Decline for Second Month, But Cattle Are Up

Wisconsin corn prices were down from March's average price. As of April 15, corn sold for an average of $3.15 per
bushel in mid-March, a decline of 32 cents. Soybeans in the state held steady at $6.65 per bushel.
The state's average prices for alfalfa hay and other types of
hay held steady from the previous month. Alfalfa continued
to sell for an average of $70 per ton, while hay of other types
sold for $45 per ton.
Wisconsin farmers' average price received for all types of
potatoes increased 40 cents per hundredweight (cwt.) in mid-
April to $8.70.
Prices farmers received for cows, beef cattle and
calves were all up in mid-April from the previous month.
Steer and heifer prices were unchanged at $91.80 per cwt.
As of the middle of April, the average price for Wisconsin
cows was $48.80 per cwt., up $1.70 from the previous month.
Beef cattle were up $1.00 to $66.90 per cwt., and calf prices
rose $3.00 to $149.00 per cwt.
