Wisconsin Agribusiness Team Returning From Afghanistan Today

Members of the Wisconsin National Guard's 97th Agribusiness Development Team are expected to return to Wisconsin on Friday after spending four months in Afghanistan.
The 11 soldiers will be welcomed by Gov. Scott Walker during a ceremony in Madison today, where the governor will issue a proclamation in honor of Military Spouse Appreciation Day.
The team departed from Wisconsin earlier this year to begin mobilization training in Indiana.
While in Afghanistan, the troops' mission was to teach Afghani farmers how to raise crops and livestock more effectively. But once they arrived their mission was shifted toward administrative functions, such as helping farmers coordinate veterinary vaccination schedules, according to the National Guard.
