State Holstein Farms Recognized as 'Herds of Excellence' Winners
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 05/16/2019

Sixteen Registered Holstein producers from around the country are being honored this year by the national Holstein Association as 'Herds of Excellence' recipients, and nine of those winners are from the Dairy State. The organization says the elite group of farmers have met the strict criteria to qualify for this prestigious award.

To qualify for such recognition, each member must be 25 percent above breed average Mature Equivalent for milk, fat, and protein; must have classified within the last year and have an actual average classification score of 83 points or higher; must have at least 70 percent of the herd homebred; and must be enrolled in the Association's TriStar program.

Wisconsin's winning herd owners include Siemers Holstein Farms, Newton; Koepke Farms Inc., Oconomowoc; Paradise-D Holsteins, Lancaster; Maurer Farm, Chilton; B-Long Holsteins, New London; Ever-Green-View Holsteins, Waldo; Jeffrey-Way Holsteins, Belleville; Hilrose Holsteins, Sherwood; and Hill-Ton Holsteins, Cuba City.

These Holstein breeders are acknowledged for having mastered the art of breeding balanced cattle. They will be presented with a plaque during Holstein Association USA's annual meeting next month in Appleton.
