Another member of the Assembly Agriculture Committee will not be running for re-election this year. State Rep. Ed Brooks of Reedsburg announced Monday he will step down from his seat in the 50th assembly district after 10 years.
In a statement, Brooks said his health was the determining factor in his decision not to run. The Reedsburg Times-Press reports that he has recently received medical test results indicating a need to maintain control over the leukemia he has battled for the past
District 50 covers all of Juneau County and parts of Monroe, Richland, Vernon and Sauk Counties.
Earlier this year, Assembly Ag Committee Chair Rep. Lee Nerison from Westby said he will not run for re-election in 2018. Senate Ag Committee Chair Terry Moulton of Chippewa Falls is also stepping down after his current term ends, as well.
