Badger Dairy Club Members Honored for Achievements
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 05/12/2011

One of the largest student organizations at the University of Wisconsin-Madison recognized many of its members for their various accomplishments this past school year. During the Badger Dairy Club end-of-year banquet, freshman Cara Biely, sophomore Mitch Kappelman, junior Curtis Horsens, and seniors Dana Mohn and Bob Heintz were named Outstanding Class Members for 2010-11.

Members of the judging team were recognized for their work and success, as they placed first at the National Intercollegiate and the Southwest Intercollegiate Judging Contests. In addition, several individuals received awards for their performance. Brian Coyne, High Individual in the National Intercollegiate Judging Contest, was awarded the Eugene J. Halbach Memorial and Leo Hansen Awards. Ben Sarbacker accepted the David P. Dickson Memorial Award and Caitlyn Lynch received the Most Improved Award.

Nine $500 scholarships were awarded to Kristine Wogsland, Breinne Hendrickson, Cara Biely, Jacob Brey, Mitch Kappelman, Abbey Wethal, Chelsea Brander, Danielle Brown, and Laura Elliott.

This year's Friend of BDC Award was given to Bader Rutter and Pfizer. Pfizer has served as a sponsor of the World Dairy Expo grilled cheese stand for several years and Bader Rutter worked hard to solidify that partnership.

Meanwhile, the new officer team for the next school year will be Danielle Brown, president; Laura Elliott, vice-president; Carissa Levash, secretary; Jessica Milatz, treasurer; Jordan Riley, public relations; Cara Biely, ADSA/Royal; Jorie McPartlin and Cassie Mayer, yearbook editors; and Hayden Hauschildt and Susie Hodgson, student council reps.

The group also welcomed new off-campus advisors Liz Matzke and Susan Orth. Randy Shaver will serve another term as an advisor, and Laura Herschleb is retiring as an advisor.
