Wisconsin Ag Connection - 01/19/2024

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is calling all Wisconsin farmers and landowners! The Continuous Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) signup is now open, offering generous rental payments for protecting your land and improving Wisconsin's environment.

Whether you're passionate about water quality, wildlife habitat, or soil erosion control, Continuous CRP has options for you. Gene Schriefer, State Executive Director of the Farm Service Agency (FSA), emphasizes, "We are pleased to announce we are now accepting Continuous CRP offers."

Key points for Wisconsin farmers:

• Signup open until July 31st, 2024. Offers accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Re-enrollment available for expiring contracts. Secure continued conservation benefits for your land.

• Water quality practices get a 20% bonus. Riparian buffers, grassed waterways, and wetlands earn extra incentives.

• Climate-Smart practices also available. Support sustainable agriculture and earn additional rewards.

Choose from a variety of enrollment options:

• CREP: Partner with conservation organizations to address specific regional concerns.

• SAFE: Restore vital wildlife habitat and contribute to state conservation goals.

• HELI: Protect highly erodible lands and prevent soil loss.

• Farmable Wetlands Program: Recover wetlands and improve water flow.

• CLEAR and CLEAR30: Prioritize water quality with additional incentives, including 30-year contracts.

Don't miss this opportunity! Contact your local USDA Service Center before July 31st to learn more and enroll in Continuous CRP.
