State Fair DNA Breeding Stock Deadline is Approaching

Youth who are exhibiting commercial or breeding stock at the Wisconsin State Fair this summer are being reminded to submit their DNA samples to the Wisconsin Livestock Identification Consortium by June 6.
Students who still need to order DNA Kits or envelopes should place their orders immediately at the WLIC website.
For those who are returning hair sample by mail, the WLIC urges exhibitors to place their orders at least two weeks prior to the June 6 deadline.
The State Fair's DNA Fair program started over 10 years ago as a youth outreach program. In 2013, WLIC took over those responsibilities in order to provide a way to ensure the animal brought to the first weigh-in was the same animal brought to fair.
