No-Till Tour & Field Day Slated for South-Central Wisconsin
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 05/17/2012

Three dairy and grain producers in the Pleasant Valley watershed near Mt. Horeb will host a no-till tour and field day on their farms on May 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Owner/operators from Kellercrest, Judd and Baumgartner farms will share their experiences with no-till farming. Weed, soil and insect specialists from University of Wisconsin-Extension and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences will be on hand to answer questions and provide technical information.

The goal of the project is to improve water quality in area streams while enhancing and maintaining the sustainability of agriculture in the watershed. The group is testing the idea that water quality in a watershed can be improved by targeting conservation practices on those fields and pastures with the greatest potential for contributing phosphorus to streams.

To register for the field day and lunch, call the Dane County Extension office at 608-224-3705 by May 25.
