WMMB Encourages the Public to Enjoy Breakfasts on the Farm
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 05/23/2016

For those who have never attended a June Dairy Breakfast before, they are really missing out. That's according to Dave Bavlnka of the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board. He says WMMB's June Dairy Month promotion, Dairy Days of Summer, is encouraging residents to celebrate America's Dairyland by enjoying fresh dairy products and attending a local farm breakfast.

"If you've never attended a farm breakfast, you're missing out," Bavlnka said. "Farm breakfasts are family-friendly, educational events that offer attendees various opportunities to enjoy fresh Wisconsin-made dairy products and a home cooked breakfast while learning more about dairy farms and animals, and meeting hard-working farm families."

For decades, Wisconsin residents have been invited to celebrate June Dairy Month by attending events hosted both on and off dairy farms throughout the state. The first official breakfast was hosted in 1970 in Jefferson County as a fundraiser for the local 4-H Club. Today, more than 70 farm breakfasts and other dairy-friendly events are hosted each June.

The WMMB says residents looking for breakfasts and other events to attend are encouraged to visit www.DairyDaysofSummer.com to access an interactive event calendar that is searchable by date and location.

Meanwhile, the Dairy Days of Summer team will be accompanying June Holstein, a life-size cartoon cow and the official ambassador of June Dairy Month, to several farm breakfasts next month. The group will hand out recipe brochures and giveaways as well as host an interactive photo booth where kids of all ages can have their photos taken with June.
