Farmers Encouraged to Attend NRCS Working Group Meetings
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 05/26/2017

The leader of the state's largest farm organization says producers would be wise to attend the Natural Resources Conservation Service's 2017 Local Working Group meetings next month.

Wisconsin Farm Bureau President Jim Holte says the meetings, which are slated for June 14-28 in various locations around the state, will be used to gather input and help set priorities for USDA conservation programs under the 2014 Farm Bill.

"I highly recommend farmers and rural landowners take the time to attend these meetings throughout Wisconsin," Holte said. "This is an opportunity to share your input with NRCS on which conservation efforts should be prioritized in your area."

The NRCS says the future of the Environmental Quality Incentives Program will be among the main topics of discussion at the gatherings. EQIP is a federal conservation program that helps farmers promote agricultural production and environmental quality as compatible goals.
